Take Me There

Take Me There began as my musical outlet in early 2020, after a tough and troublesome period in my life. With my discovery of ambient artists like Grouper and Brian Eno, together with post-rock groups like Sigur Rós, MONO and Mogwai, I found new inspiration in life. I learned to make music with a focus on atmospheres and subtle melodies made by guitar, piano and other instruments. In 2020 I released four EPs, which I had made while learning music writing and production. These EPs had a mix of minimalistic synths, guitars, piano and more over musical soundscapes. At the end of 2020 I released my first album, a dark and very personal project about chronic pain, which I felt the necessity to make for me to move on from those dark thoughts and feelings. As of now, I’m studying music production in Sweden and working on my second album which is nearing completion after almost a year of working on it. My goal with my next album and any work I make, is to create a musical soundscape that transports the listener to another place or perspective in their mind.

I want to take them there.

Cavern Cult

Hi, my name is Frank and I make dark instrumental electronic Post Rock with beats.

I think I’ll always remember that moment as a little kid when I played the deepest keys on my grandparents piano for the first time – it felt like I could resurrect dinosaurs! Then I played the violin for some years, abandoned it, started to play guitar in bands and ended up playing it a lot like a violin. Eventually drum machines, loopers and synths seeped more and more into my processes.

Cavern Cult was born out of a desire to make dark, emotional and heavy experimental music. It started as a solo recording project and slowly expanded to become more and more of a space to collaborate with friends, too.

I love delay and reverb.

G!GA LURGH

Electronic music.
Ambient textures and grooves.
Oscillating between downtempo and lofi-hiphop.

Music is recreation.

Unruly Disturbance

Unruly Disturbance is an Ambient & Drone artist from Manchester UK.
They draw influence from Brian Eno, Rafael Anton Irisarri and Max Richter, among many other artists in this space.

I’m sure if you take time to get to know Unruly Disturbance, they will tell you the origin of the artist name, over a pint of course.

Ed Herbers

I started writing electronic music on my parents’ computer in 2006, mostly making chiptunes and lo-fi, bleepy songs. Over the years, my production quality and songwriting abilities have certainly evolved, but my DIY roots are certainly still firmly planted. My primary style of music leans ambient, but I love to experiment with different styles and concepts. Each album is its own journey–nothing I write ever sounds quite the same as what came before it.

Music that influences and inspires me: Ludovico Einaudi, Dustin O’Halloran, Andrew Prahlow, Yann Tiersen, Soundtracks to old LucasArts adventure games, and the talented folks here on Passed Recordings!

Christian Schwöbel

My musical journey began with classical guitar in my childhood. It took quite some time until I found a way to create my own music. I always had this notion that you need fellow musicians to write music, but I was never comfortable jamming around with others.
Some day I went to a concert of Owen Pallett at a festival and saw what a great show you can pull off just by yourself if you have a few hardware helpers. So then a little later to fill a void in my life I bought my first looper pedal and this really gave my creative journey the right direction. It all started with a few guitar loops, which I thought were worthy of being arranged into a song. That’s how I got into recording and production.
As the years went by I extended my pedal arsenal and made more and more use of field recordings and artificial sounds. My genre of choice can probably best be described as ambient and drone. I always try to tell a story with my music, very much inspired from godspeed you! black emperor’s epic works. My latest influence stems from experimental electronic artists such as emptyset, Blanck Mass or Roly Porter.
I like to base my albums around topics that fascinate or frighten me. The influences that went into the first two albums were climate change and the destruction of our natural habitat through technological advancements.

Chris Hobbs

I began making music in my early teens on my first electric guitar. Following fleeting engagements with rock, metal, fingerstyle acoustic and jazz, I began to make acousmatic music during my studies at the University of Sheffield. I felt a great affinity with the freedoms this style afforded and composed the works Sticks & Stones and Glimmer, followed by my first album – Between Black and White. These earlier compositions drew on influences within the genre, but also styles such as EDM/IDM, Glitch, Minimalism, Drone, Jazz and Ambient.
Increasingly inspired by the ethos of early American minimalism, I was entranced with Ambient and Drone pieces I encountered (Particularly Brian Eno/Laraaji’s Ambient 4, Elaine Radique’s Trilogie De la Mort & Loscil’s Plume). At the same time, Paul Lansky’s Homebrew & The Future Sound of London’s Lifeforms were changing the way I viewed electronic music as a whole.
In my own music, the diverse influence of the full spectrum of sound and genre make up my palette when composing and I strive to deliver truly unique sonic experiences without ever compromising on delivering a satisfying and engaging listening experience.

Passengers

Passengers is an ambient/noise project from somewhere in Michigan. Forged from loss, built on friendship.

Virga Drought

Virga Drought is a dark ambient collaboration between Fervorvore and passengers, we make music inspired by feelings of heartbreak, depression, and anxiety. We met by chance on an ambient subreddit in 2020, and soon after released our first EP “Virga Drought.” This name represents a feeling of hopelessness as rain falls but evaporates before touching the ground as the earth dries up and dies below it. Our music is heavily inspired by Tim Hecker. We are both big fans of his music and this mutual inspiration is likely what led us to working together in the first place. But there are many others who inspire us as well.

Tari Vega

Tari Vega is a composer from Chile who makes distinctive and colourful ambient/electronic music.

I felt it in my sleep

Born from the forest of North Carolina, USA, I felt it in my sleep is the brainchild of multimedia artist William Murray.

Best described as “gloom”, I felt it in my sleep borrows from black metal, industrial, noise, slowcore, ambient, and various other bleak genres. Sporting themes of death, loss, memory, and deterioration, realized within a DIY “xeroxed to hell” mentality.

On Idyl

On Idyl makes music nestled deep in a forest, blending elements of ambient, electronic, rock, and psychedelia. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, when he’s not making music, you can find him on one of the many hiking trails throughout the region, having a fine craft beer or a strong coffee.

Fervorvore

I’m Fervorvore, I make my music for my own enjoyment but I hope people like it. It’s mostly inspired by Tim Hecker, I don’t listen to much ambient or noise music besides him but I was still inspired to make this style of music myself. I find it cathartic and fulfilling. I also release music with my friend passengers, our duo is called Virga Drought. I met passengers on reddit and we decided to collaborate, from there we met everyone else and after a while we decided to form this collective. I’m excited to see where it goes from here.
